Lending
Library: Hospice of Scotland County maintains a library
of books and videos about loss, grief and end of life issues. These have
often been helpful resources for anyone coping with a significant loss.
Presentations:
In-services and programs about grief death
and dying are available to the community. Upon request programs can be
designed specifically for churches, schools, colleges, civic organizations,
industries and other healthcare providers.
The
Lunch Bunch:
The Lunch Bunch offers an opportunity for individuals
to enjoy a delicious meal and fellowship at the same time. Meeting at 11:30
a.m. on the 1st Friday of the month at the Golden Corral, the Lunch Bunch
is opened to widows and widowers in the community.
Grief Support for Children:
Bereavement services are available for individual
or group support for children who have lost a loved one. At the request of parents or school counselors, sessions may be
held a the Hospice office or school.
The "Healing Haven":
Hospice of Scotland County has a special
place for youth called "Healing Haven ". This room is designed for creative expressions
of feelings for ages 5-13 who are having a difficult time coping with any loss. Counseling is available for individual or groups and uses different mediums through drawings, story telling or puppets.
Camp Spinoza:
Camp Spinoza is an overnight camping experience for children and teens ages 5 - 13 who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Campers are offered a variety of activities that will teach them coping skills for any feelings of grief they might experience. Camp Spinoza is scheduled for the first Saturday in June at Camp Monroe. Applications are available by calling the Hospice office or through school counselors.
